Ostéopathe sciatique à Paris 12

Dans les faits il existe deux termes pour désigner des douleurs qui se ressemblent: sciatique et sciatalgie, dans les deux cas la douleur provient du nerf sciatique mais se différencient par l'origine de la souffrance.

Lors de la sciatique le nerf est en souffrance (en général par compression) au niveau de sa racine (partie du nerf qui émerge de la moelle épinière).

Dans le cas de la sciatalgie la douleur peut provenir de n'importe quelle partie du nerf à partir du groupement des racines qui le forment.

LES SYMPTÔMES DE LA SCIATIQUE ET SCIATALGIE

Les signes les plus courants de la sciatique sont :

Une douleur variable en fonction de la racine nerveuse atteinte:

Si la racine L5 est touchée, la douleur sera localisée derrière la cuisse, sur le côté externe de la jambe, le dessus du pied et le gros orteil.

Si la racine S1 est touchée, la douleur sera située derrière la cuisse, au niveau du mollet, du talon, de la plante et du bord externe du pied.

- Une douleur souvent déclenchée par un effort (lorsque la personne soulève un poids, par exemple);

- Une douleur amplifiée en position assise, à la toux, aux éternuements et à l'effort;

- Des fourmillements, un engourdissement et une faiblesse musculaire pouvant survenir à certaines zones de la jambe et du pied;

- Un soulagement ressenti le plus souvent en position allongée.

Ces symptômes de la sciatique ne sont pas toujours tous présents.

Malgré la douleur, l'aspect de la jambe est normal (ni gonflement, ni changement de couleur).

Concernant la sciatalgie la douleur est beaucoup plus diffuse et le trajet beaucoup moins précis que dans la sciatique, en général la douleur ne descend pas plus bas que le genou.

LES CAUSES DE LA SCIATIQUES ET DE LA SCIATALGIE

Les causes de la sciatique peuvent être: une arthrose lombaire, une hernie discale, un mécanisme inflammatoire.

Les causes de la sciatalgie sont d'avantage liées aux contractures musculaires des muscles anatomiquement proches du nerf, souvent la conséquence d'une mauvaise position de travail ou un effort trop important (port de charges lourdes) ou par une perte de mobilité articulaire.

(ex:hernie discale), l’ostéopathe aura pour objectif de travailler manuellement et en douceur sur l'interface anatomique intimement lié au nerf sciatique tout le long de son trajet en redonnant un maximum de mobilité aux structures qui l'entourent (articulations, muscles, ligaments, fascias) ce qui permettra de libérer les tensions susceptibles de perturber le nerf et également de dégager les nombreuses contraintes imposées aux lombaires afin de diminuer la symptomatologie.
